“In the early days the aristocratic George Martin was definitely in charge, like in this photo. Later on he was more of a collaborator in the studio, truly the "fifth" Beatle. The Beatles wouldn't have achieved the success or adulation they still attain without this man and his willingness to innovate and experiment alongside the boys.”

“Abbey Road is iconic in so many ways; from the album cover that spawned the "Paul is dead" furore to the fact it was the last Beatles album. The standard of musicianship and sound engineering on this album makes it stand out for me. It was as if the Beatles were saying "We know it's the end, so let's make it a good one"”
