“The first time I listened to this song, I was quite shaken by my reaction. I was 15, listening to Pepper for the first time in my life. It was 1990 I was all by myself in my bedroom with head phones on a portable cd player. I was very surprised at how clever the album was, and as the Pepper Reprise died away I was automatically drawn in to the beautiful melody and John's bittersweet singing. and as the song progressed and the first orchestral climax lead to Paul's awesome submission of disarray and chaos I thought "WOW How awesome was that!" The song was slowly snapping my neck on the way I envisaged music in general, so when the song reached the second climax, I felt a sensation I never felt before. It became stronger and I felt as though someone grabbed me by the neck and dangled me, then the piano crash tossed me into an audio ORGASM! It was the first time a song made me feel as though I was paralyzed in ecstasy! I didn't do drugs, and I felt like I was tripping! It was spiritual! I sat dazed for ten minutes, wishing I was a Beatle. They became my #1 favorite band. 23 years after they made that record, they were still unique and unparalleled!”
