Name: Mahatma Das
Fav Track: Within You Without You
“It helped change the course of my existence and put me on the spiritual path, and I eventually became a Hare Krishna devotee. Strange that it used to be my least favourite Beatle track in my younger days but is now my absolute favourite. The lyrics (or teachings if you prefer) are so deep and so true.”

“Married, one 15 year old daughter (who likes the Beatle too!).
The Beatles have been my favourite band since before I can remember, literally.
According to my mother before I could talk or even walk properly I used to drag my self over to the big radio which was on the floor in our lounge, and pull myself upright and shake my head to the Beatles songs (but never to anyone elses!)I am not ashamed to admit that I have been deeply influenced by Georges spirituality, and at the age of 42 I became initiated as a Hare Krishna devotee, after being a serious follower for some years. The teachings of meditation and vegetarianism were spread around the entire world amongst the younger generation by the Beatles, more so than by anybody else.
I think the Beatles definately made being spiritual cool, whereas ordinary religions just turn most people away from God, due to all the fighting and arguing and hating etc.”

- Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

“Most amazing album a band ever produced. I think it created a huge shift in the consciousness of the worlds youth. 1967 was the most amazing year of the modern era, and this was the highlight of that year. Sgt Pepper still has a profound effect on people these days. There was definately something transcendental going on in 1967!”

To Love,Peace,and Joy on 10th Jan 10:
“Apparently George wrote this track after he met the first Hare Krishna devotees that were sent to the UK from the USA by Swami Prabhupada. George felt meeting them was like the sun had appeared after a very long, cold spiritual winter. Love and Peace to all living entities, Hare Krishna!”

“I was born in 1965 and my mom told me once that before I could walk or talk I would crawl over to the radio, pull myself up by holding on to it and shake my head to Beatles songs - but never to any other bands songs!”
