Like Dreamers Do

song

I, I saw a girl in my dreams
And so it seems
That I will love her

Oh you, you are that girl
In my dreams
And so it seems
That I will love you

And I waited for your kiss
Waited for the bliss
Like dreamers do

And I, I, I
Oh I'll be there, yeah
Waiting for you, you, you

You, you came just one dream ago
And now I know that I will love you
Oh I knew when you first said hello
That's how I know
That I will love you

And I, I, I waited for your kiss
Waited for the bliss
Like dreamers do

And I, I, I
Oh I'll be there, yeah
Waiting for you, you, you

You, you came just one dream ago
And now I know that I will love you
Oh I knew when you first said hello
That's how I know
That I will love you

And I, I, I waited for your kiss
Waited for the bliss
Like dreamers do
Oh like dreamers do
Like dreamers do

"Like Dreamers Do" is a song written by Paul McCartney in 1957 and is one of the earliest written songs credited to Lennon-McCartney. It was recorded by the Beatles in 1962 prior to Ringo Starr joining the band and featured Pete Best on drums. It was most notably performed by the group at their unsuccessful 1962 audition for Decca Records.

In 1964, the track was recorded by Decca Records' band the Applejacks and released as the group's debut single, reaching No. 20 on the UK Singles Chart. The Applejacks worked with Mike Leander from Decca as the musical director.

Bas Muys covered "Like Dreamers Do" on his 1989 album Secret Songs: Lennon & McCartney similarly to The Beatles' original performance. Australian Beatles tribute band The Beatnix also covered it for their 1998 release It's Four You.

The Beatles' original version was finally released on Anthology 1 in 1995. McCartney has commented that he was not fond of the song and considered it a throwaway.
