The Cavern
The Cavern had originally been a Jazz venue, but the scene changed with the rise in popularity of skiffle and rock and roll. The Beatles made their first appearance in February 1961.
PAUL: "The Cavern was sweaty, damp, dark, loud and exciting."
GEORGE: "We used to play lunchtime dates. We'd get up and go down to the Cavern and play from noon till about two. It was very casual; we'd have our tea and sandwiches and cigarettes on stage, sing a couple of tunes and tell a few jokes"
They played the Club almost 300 times, their final performance took place during the summer of '63.
