“This CD strictly sticks to the Beatles songs that were number 1 in the UK and/or US music charts. That's why there's no "Here Comes The Sun" or "Strawberry Fields Forever". Still, it's impressive that a group could have 27 number 1 songs. I think of "1" as a sampler of the red & blue albums.”

“Probably the best compilation of the Beatles' music, but that's not saying much, really. It's still just a best-of album, and as with most best-of albums, this album isn't truly representative of their best works. Instead of focusing on just hits, it'd be a much better idea to go through every album, and pick two songs from each album, one that is truly representative of the sound of the album, and one that is well known. Maybe have one disc of one kind of track, and one disc of the other, package them together, and call it "2", as a nod to the title of this album, "1".
Even so, while this album IS a decent grouping of some of the Beatles' better known works, it barely scratches the surface of their musical careers.”
